Carrom: how a round works

Try Carrom at your own pace and keep its objective in view. Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. Choose a clear next step rather than rushing through the instructions. Identify the playing area and the controls you need. Look at what changes after your first action.

Play a casual Carrom match using the house rules shown here. Tournament penalties and multi-board match scoring are not used.

Practice with a purpose

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Make the next step deliberately.

Understand the aim

Clear your nine carrom men after the queen is covered. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Take a moment to understand the current position.

The steps to play

  1. White starts; set striker aim and power.
  2. Own-colour pockets earn another shot.
  3. Cover the queen with an own-colour man in the same or next shot.
  4. Striker fouls return one own pocketed man if available.
  5. Finish your colour after a covered queen.

Choosing and moving on screen

Touch to aim; sliders set power and angle; striker-position controls and Shoot. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Contact us with the game and device if a control does not respond.

An example before you play

Queen and own man in one legal shot cover immediately. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Read the matching step again.

An important reminder

The last own man returns if the queen remains uncovered. Compare the situation with the worked example. Choose one rule to keep in mind for this round. Apply it consistently rather than guessing what another version might allow.
